Following the end of the Civil War, many communities set aside a day to mark the end of the war or as a memorial to those who had died. Some of the places creating an early memorial day include Charleston, South Carolina; Boalsburg, Pennsylvania; Richmond, Virginia; Carbondale, Illinois; Columbus, Mississippi; many communities in Vermont; and some two dozen other cities and towns. These observances eventually coalesced around Decoration Day, honoring the Union dead, and the several Confederate Memorial Days.
According to Professor David Blight of the Yale University History Department, the first memorial day was observed in 1865 by liberated slaves at the historic race track in Charleston. The site was a former Confederate prison camp as well as a mass grave for Union soldiers who had died while captive. The freed slaves reinterred the dead Union soldiers from the mass grave to individual graves, fenced in the graveyard & built an entry arch declaring it a Union graveyard; a very daring thing to do in the South shortly after North's victory. On May 30 1868 the freed slaves returned to the graveyard with flowers they'd picked from the countryside & decorated the individual gravesites, thereby creating the 1st Decoration Day. A parade with thousands of freed blacks and Union soldiers was followed by patriotic singing and a picnic.

CREAM OF FRESH PEA SOUP
½ Cup Diced onion, cut by hand
2 ½ Cups Chicken broth
4 Cups Fresh or frozen green peas
Pinch Sugar
3 tbsps. Unsalted butter
3 tbsps. Flour
3 Cups Whole milk
¼ tsp. Ground nutmeg
Salt and white pepper to taste
2 tbsps. Finely minced mint
Garnish: Minced fresh mint or chives
Simmer onion in chicken broth until tender. With broth simmering, stir in peas and a pinch of sugar. Cook 3 minutes more, or until peas are tender. Take care not to overcook!! Keep the color bright green!!
Puree the mixture in a blender until quite smooth. (a Vita-Mix is ideal)
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the flour and cook another minute, stirring constantly, but not allowing the mixture to brown. Whisk in milk, and cook until bubbly and thickened. Stir in the pureed pea mixture. Add nutmeg, salt and white pepper, and mint.

H.J.Lutcher Stark started to purchase works from Texas artists, he begun to collect American Indian objects from New Mexico in the 1920's and 30's. From all their travel started in 1944 to 1962 they built a collection that strongly represents the Taos Society of Artists, a colony of artists drawn to the area for its scenery and culture. Boehm as well as a series of Steuben Glass pieces, including the complete set of The United States in Crystal, and they added 230 works by Paul Kane, which was their last major purchase for the collection.
Because of the inspiration of their passion, this couple started a foundation which was called the Stark Foundation in 1961 to enrich the quality of life in Southeast Texas through education and the arts. After his death the foundation under his wife's direction built a Museum of Art that was opened on November 29, 1978. Until Today this Museum acquired new works of arts and open to all who will visit it. Today hubby is trying to get ready for the blueberry picking tomorrow and i know this is really a fun and busy day. I want to help him in our farm so tomorrow i will be busy too. A lot of people shop online and of course i am one of them. It is very easy, no hassle, no lining to the cashier's registrar and no traffic. Hubby planted a rose for me before i came here in America. When i came here already in the house i saw a bunch of rose planted beside our house. It is so pretty and i love it. When it is time to bloom those roses are very pretty. When i took this test it is exactly what of my favorite flower is.
When i first came here in America i bought a lot of flowers to decorate inside our house and planted some in our garden. I love flowers and i just don't know what happened to them because it seems that they died. Hubby can't figure out too he also love flowers inside our house. Even though that my son tore it up sometimes. So, hubby decided to buy again and planted it in a flower pot and put a fertilizer in it. Still having natural flowers and plants inside our house is useless because they always die.
I am allergy of pollen thats why until now my cough and cold did not vanish. Every time that i breath i can smell the pollen of this flowers and it makes me cough very hard. Hubby really worried about what happened to me and trying to put flowers that i can't breath those pollen. Every woman loves flowers and i love it inside our house. I am always laughing with my hubby because he is always having a fantasy just like asking me what if your clothes will talk? What if your parts of the body will talk and say something about you? It is weird sometimes and he said that its natural to talk about that. Imagining things just like a fairy tales. I heard sometimes of my friends and said how about if your shirt, pants and shoes will talk whats your reactions? All of us laugh and said thats crazy things to imagine.
Well, I love Tori Bermuda pants why is it? Summer is here and she has a tough job because i always wear her and she will really worn out. Hubby and i own a farm and always having a harvest every summer and we need to wear pants everyday. I wear short pants like Tori Bermuda. Wow she has a good job and i love wearing it because it feels comfortable and cool.

Since i was young most of my friends told me that i have a unique name. The spelling is unusual and very different. When i was in grade 1 my teacher change the spelling of my name and my family name. Instead of G she change it to J and i used that until i am in 3rd year high school. I recognized that its wrong and i really look at my birth certificate and i found out the spelling of my name and family was different from where i used to write on my paper. So when i came her in US every person that i meet pronounce my name wrong and spell it wrong too. Its funny but i just accept it and smile but i corrected it. How does your name spell is it correct?
Summer is on the air and we need to book our summer getaway. I have lots of summer getaways or a vacation in the mountains and its really fun. I like to see the beautiful places an explore it. Hubby loves to go a place where he see mountains, beautiful nature and interesting place. Where this summer i want to go somewhere that we did not went to. I like to visit Cyprus because i heard that this place is very nice and interesting. I am a kind of person that really loves adventure and exploration.
